Lot 2464 UNIQUE CUSTOM REMINGTON MODEL 40-X BULLPUP BOLT
ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 222 Mag. S# 31972B. Bbl. 22". Model 40-X bolt action rifle mfg. by Remington and subsequently customized into a bullpup configuration. The left side of the custom bbl. is marked "C.R. & P.J. HART/ 222 MAG.". Left side of the receiver exhibits standard factory markings consisting of the S#, Remington trademark logo, and the model designation. Receiver, bolt handle, and bolt shroud exhibit a blue finish, with the alloy trigger guard exhibiting an apparent enamel type finish. Custom bbl. exhibits a dull stainless steel finish. Bolt body is polished in-the-white. 1-piece custom laminated wood thumbhole stock with Pachmayr White Line textured red rubber recoil pad. Underside of forearm is fitted with an unmarked folding bipod. Bbl. features 2 blued steel "L.H. BROWN" marked high profile scope block mounts, and is fitted with a Weaver K10 60-C fixed power scope. Top of the receiver is factory drilled and tapped with plug screws. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: generic black soft case. This rifle is also accompanied by a binder of paperwork consisting of 1971/1972 dated invoices and correspondence between L.H. Brown and the original owner of this rifle detailing specifications of the rifle while it was being converted. CONDITION: metal components retain virtually all of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light thinning at contact areas. Bbl. has acquired areas of brown coloration, possibly from previously applied grease and/or oil. Mirror bore, exhibiting a couple of spots of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Stock is very good, with some superficial handling marks and small impressions overall. Front lens of scope exhibits a few scratches, but otherwise retains a clear optic.
